There are some things you should definitely have with you on your round of golf!
Golf balls
Always make sure you have plenty of golf balls with you! There is nothing more stressful than having to go back home in the middle of your round because you are out of golf balls. Golf balls are made up of several components; at a minimum, a core and a shell. However, many models now have multiple cores and multiple layers, all responsible for different capabilities.
Some offer a softer feel at impact, while others offer a harder feel. Some offer more spin for more control in the short game, others less spin for long shots off the tee. Balls with multi-piece cores and layers sometimes even deliver different characteristics at the same time.
However, exactly which golf balls you choose isn't that critical at the outset. The important thing is to always choose the same model, if possible, to ensure consistent and reliable performance.
Golf tees
Tees are necessary for practically every tee shot. You need low tees for teeing off with irons, slightly higher tees for woods, and even higher tees for drivers. Therefore, tees of different lengths can be helpful. They are available in woods or plastic. Tees made of plastic are more durable, but tees made of wood are much more environmentally friendly.
They also come in a wide variety of colors and shapes. Tees from the Lignum company, for example, have spacing rings so you can figure out and maintain the optimal tee height. Furthermore, there are special distance tees that ensure that the tee always rises the same height from the ground.
Pitch fork
The pitch fork is necessary to remove the ball impact holes on the green (pitch mark) caused by approach shots. It can be purchased inexpensively and helps to leave the golf course as everyone would like to find it. Sets that include a pitch fork and a ball marker are particularly practical.
Ball marker
A ball marker is there to mark the position of the ball on the green before it is picked up for cleaning or removed from a teammate's putting line, for example.
Many different ball markers ensure that every golfer can find his own marker on the green without any problems. They are either made of plastic and are stowed in the pocket or they are magnetic and can therefore be attached to a clip on the cap or shoe so that it is very quickly at hand.
Score counter
At the beginning of your golf career, it's difficult to keep track of your shots accurately. You are so preoccupied with your game - where does my ball lie?, which club do I choose?, which type of shot do I execute best? - so that counting your strokes almost becomes a secondary matter. And then keeping track of the strokes of the other player, who may be playing on the other side of the course, seems almost impossible.
A score counter provides a remedy! Whether in "click format" or in the form of a counting chain is not so decisive. You decide what you feel more comfortable with!
Stencils
Stencils and marking pens should not be missing in any bag! Especially at tournaments it is very important to have your ball individually marked to be able to identify it as your own.
But you can also use them to draw lines and symbols on the ball, which can help to align the ball before putting. Advice: Draw a continuous line around the equator of the ball - this is the easiest and most precise way to align the ball.
Brushes
If stubborn dirt cannot be completely removed with a towel, a beater brush is extremely helpful. Those that have an integrated water tank are very practical.
The bristles made of hard plastic or steel are ideal for completely loosening dirt from the grooves of the clubface.
Pens
To record your score at a tournament, you will need a pen. The secretarial staff especially likes to see a scorecard filled out with a pencil.
Practical for this is a pen including a pen holder, with which you can attach it directly to your bag or belt loop and thus always have access to it as quickly as possible. Often there is also a ball marker on the pen holder.
Towels
A club towel fulfills several functions at once. On the one hand, of course, it serves to clean your golf clubs. On the other hand, you can also use it to dry wet grips or gloves. Therefore, a 2-sided TriFold club towel is ideal - one side can be used for cleaning, the other side for drying.
In an emergency, you can also hang it over your clubs if you are surprised by a rain shower on the course and there is not enough time to unpack and use the golf bag's rain cover.
Golf umbrellas
In order not to stand in the rain during a rain shower and still be able to enjoy your round of golf, you should always have an umbrella with you! Golf umbrellas are special for several reasons and differ from normal umbrellas. For example, they are not susceptible to lightning due to their carbon material. Also, most golf umbrellas are really big to give you and your equipment the best possible protection. And many have a two-piece umbrella so that any wind that might blow into it won't fold it over. This makes it particularly storm-proof and stable.
