Making life worth living
Golf House, as a JAB Anstoetz subsidiary, is committed to the areas that - far from the usual day-to-day business - make life worth living. The Matthias Anstoetz Foundation is one of the most important themes in the commitment of the JAB Anstoetz Foundations. The focus here is on training and helping young people to have better prospects for the future. By building shelters, schools and hospitals, the educational and life opportunities for children are improved.
The background:
Matthias Anstoetz Foundation Success can only be truly enjoyed when others also benefit from it. This is why Heinz Anstoetz established the Matthias Anstoetz Foundation, which he named after his late father, to mark his 25th anniversary with the company in 1979.
Since then, the charitable foundation, which is now managed by Petra Anstoetz-Blome, has been supporting people in developing countries who are particularly disadvantaged due to serious hardship or disability. When awarding grants, particular consideration is given to smaller projects that not only receive cash and non-cash benefits, but are also supported in their development through personal contact.
To date, the foundation's funds have been used to build schools and accommodation, purchase tractors and means of transportation or equip hospitals in order to enable people in countries such as India or Brazil to have a promising and self-determined future
The focal points:
- Construction of hostels ("boarding schools")
- Construction of primary and secondary schools
- Improving school operations through the purchase of computers and buses
- Construction of hospitals and the expansion of medical care
- Construction of small family homes
- Spontaneous help in emergency situations
- Start-up aid projects for women
"The exclusive task of the foundation is to help people in need and corresponding institutions." Excerpt from the foundation statutes 1979, Heinz Anstoetz. In our support, we always make sure to provide targeted help. That is why we try to bundle our projects geographically. We concentrate on India, but are also involved in Guatemala, Brazil and the Philippines because we have been impressed by projects there.
A selection of projects
The foundation's work is based on the Jeevan Jyoti School in Varanasi, India. A large school complex has been built here: A school for the blind with a boarding school for around 200 visually impaired girls; a school for girls and boys with multiple disabilities; a general education day school with inclusion, which is currently attended by 30 blind children and 530 day children, all girls.
Many projects are located in the Assam region in northern India. In the diocese of Tezpur, for example, we have supported the construction of several hostels, schools and a children's hospital. A very special project has also been successful here. A village was built with around 70 detached houses for destitute large families.
We were able to become active in the Philippines through the "Queen of Apostles" order based in Vienna. Here we have supported a large girls' home, providing young women with a safe place to live.
Every year, the Matthias Anstoetz Foundation receives very different requests. When selecting a project, it is important to us that it fits in with our regional concept. We usually support several large projects at the same time. The funding is often spread over several years.
