1959
Karsten Solheim built first putter 1A in the garage at home. It made a literal 'ping' sound at impact. The name was found.
1961
Karsten experimented with irons that had a completely different weighting than the standard of the time. His 'heel-toe' weight distribution made the irons more forgiving and changed golf.
1966
The first Anser model was developed.
1975
PING Gold Putter Vault is established at PING to archive all PING putter wins by Tour Pros. For every PING Tour victory, two gold-plated putters are built, one for the Pro and one for the Putter Vault.
1978
PING Eye irons are released. Patented design with an eye in the cavity improves feel.
1982
PING EYE2 are introduced to the market. It becomes the best selling irons of all time.
1984
The first LW is released. It is a revolution and introduces more options for the short game.
1995
PING introduces the Fitting Cart System and Karsten's youngest son John Solheim becomes President of the company.
2000
Founder Karsten Solheim passes away at the age of 88.
2005
For the first time, an equipment series is released that includes all categories of equipment.
2011
The iPing Putter App. connects iPhone and iPod to your golf game. Golfers can now easily customize their putter to match their technique.
2011/12
PING introduces the completely redesigned G20 and i20 series.
2013/14
PING introduces the completely redesigned G25 series.
