1910
Philip W. 'Skipper' Young founds the rubber factory " Peabody, Young & Weeks" in Acushnet, Massachusetts, USA with 2 friends.
Company legend has it that Young, frustrated with his golf game, decides to x-ray golf balls to find out why they don't fly straight. When he finds that many don't have what it takes, he decides to produce a better ball. From then on, the company focuses on golf.
1930
In the early 1930s, Young produces a golf ball with a machine that weaves rubber around the core - the birth of the "Dead Center" Titleist golf ball. In its early stages, this ball is only available for purchase in pro stores, which only increases demand.
1948
After focusing on military equipment during World War 2, the company begins selling a Titleist golf ball with the legendary "Dynamite Thread," a highly elastic rubber thread, to add length.
1949
Just one year after its introduction, this is the most played ball at the U.S. Open.
1962
The Acushnet Company, by now the owner of Titleist, begins producing and marketing industrially manufactured golf clubs. Over the years, companies in the golf industry are acquired, including the FootJoy brand in 1985, as well as Scotty Cameron putters, Vokey wedges and Pinnacle golf balls.
2000
On October 11, 2000, the story of the world's most famous golf ball begins - the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball takes the hearts of the pros by storm at the USPGA tournament in Las Vegas, and in the same year amateur golfers can also purchase the Pro V1. Golf mega-star Tiger Woods, among others, also played the Pro V1 golf ball at the beginning of his career.

The latest, even more powerful generation of the Titleist Pro V1 and ProV1* is teed up by golfers and successfully holed.
