Cleveland Golf 588 Forged Wedge
The most successful wedge of all time now even better. Forged! The 588 wedge has already been sold over 3 million times worldwide. This golf wedge has been around for over 23 years. Cleveland Golf has improved this wedge once again.
The new version is forged from 1025 carbon steel and equipped with "Tour Zip Grooves and Laser Milled Technology". The new True Temper Tour Concept shaft increases spin and improves distance control.
1979 Roger Cleveland founds the Cleveland Golf company. In the early years of the company's history, Roger Cleveland limited himself to producing golf club replicas on a small scale. Persimmon Woods followed. TC15 was the most successful model, which many tour players had in their bags.
1988 The final breakthrough came with the 588 wedge. It is still the most popular wedge in golf history. Without a strong parent company behind him, Roger Cleveland quickly realized that it would be difficult for Cleveland Golf to survive on the market in the long term.
1990 Cleveland Golf was sold to Rossignol in France, which saw Cleveland as the perfect complement to its existing product range (mainly winter sports). Cleveland Golf grew considerably under the direction of Rossignol and became a full-line golf club supplier.
2005 Rossignol was acquired by the Quiksilver company. Quiksilver sold Cleveland Golf 2 years later to the company SRI, which is also the parent company of Srixon Golf. Thus Cleveland Golf has a company behind it that understands the golf business, as Srixon is the absolute golf power in the Asian region!
2011 The synergies between the American company Cleveland Golf and its new Japanese parent are becoming increasingly apparent. Myiazaki shafts "Made in Japan" are used in the new Ultralite woods.
2012 The 588 wedge is coming back! But now for the first time in an Asian forged version. The new Black Line woods and irons were designed entirely in Japan. At 265 grams, the Black Driver is the absolute lightweight in the driver market. Cleveland Golf has sold more than 7 million wedges worldwide in its company history!
