The golf driver for the great distances
For quite a few men, the golf driver is one of the flagships of their equipment. No other wood is more sought after for perfection than the big stick. This creates room for development and technological innovation for major manufacturers such as Callaway, TaylorMade and Titleist. Because to achieve the greatest distance from the tee and avoid hooking or slicing, it has to be a good golf club.
It's clear that the greatest distances are possible with the 1-wood - men hit the golf ball around 170 to 240 meters with the driver. However, the swing with the driver is also one of the most difficult. This is due to the design of the golf club, which on the one hand allows for great distances, but on the other hand hardly forgives any mistakes.
Golf driver: it's not just the club head that matters
The shaft of the golf driver is very long. Although this enables enormous speed and distance, it also increases the distance between the hitter and the ball. The rule of thumb in golf is: the greater the distance to the ball, the more challenging the shot will be. A balanced swing and the correct impact angle are particularly important. This makes the right choice of driver all the more important.
The club head and the club face are the main features of the driver. In particular, the unusual texture and the different materials are components that need to be taken into account. In order to optimally transfer the impact force to the ball and create a perfect launch angle, the center of gravity of the golf driver's club head is usually very low and far behind the club face. This is also very large, which also serves to optimize the transfer of power to the ball and increases the margin of error at impact.
The choice of tee is also important. Every player should experiment a little here to find the golf tee that suits their own driver and personal swing. As a rule of thumb, half of the ball should be above the upper edge of the club when it touches the ground. You can choose between standard tees and extra-long tees (80 to 100 millimetres).
Price of a golf driver: well worth the investment
As the right driver is essential for a successful tee shot, it is worth investing in the club. Finding the perfect golf club for you is a challenge, but necessary for an ambitious player. Particular attention should be paid to the head, shaft and length of the club. It also depends on your own requirements and abilities. In the case of the shaft, the flex, i.e. the pliability, depends on the individual hitting speed. This is different for every player, but is usually between 70 and 85 miles per hour (around 120 km/h) for an amateur golfer.
Inexpensive men's golf drivers are available for beginners for less than 100 euros. The price segment up to 300 euros is aimed at ambitious players. In this category, the golf clubs are designed for maximum length and forgiveness, and can be customized to suit personal preferences. Golf drivers priced above this are high-end products with high-quality materials such as carbon or titanium and sophisticated technologies.
